This place was established in the year 1959 by Nasar’s father Abdulla, who learned how to repair pens during his time in Kolkata. In the year 1979, KA Nasar took over his father’s responsibility and began his journey as the present-day pen doctor.

As this was the only pen hospital that existed in India, various prominent personalities had visited the place to repair their pens. One of the most memorable moments for Nazar was his experience with the former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam. Kalam had visited the pen shop to repair a valuable pen he had received from the President of France. Eminent writers such as Sara Joseph, Vaishakan, etc. are some of the commons visitors.
