Most of these have preservatives, making them an unhealthy choice for your pets. Hooch and Bailey‘s is a pet bakery located in Thrippunithura, Kochi. It’s the perfect place to buy homemade, gourmet dog treats.
How it started?
Jaya Lakshmi Deepak started pursuing baking after completing her PG in Law. She started a home baking venture selling desserts like brownies, muffins, and celebration cakes in 2012. It was called Sugar Craft and continued till 2018.
The idea for a pet bakery struck her when her pet dog Bailey started developing skin issues due to food allergies. “I stopped feeding her store-bought treats and started looking for healthier alternatives. But I didn’t find anyone who made customizable treats. So I decided to make it using non-allergic ingredients,” shares Jaya. Her friends and family loved the idea and this encouraged her to start with Hooch and Bailey’s in 2019. Since it was difficult to manage both the ventures, she discontinued Sugar Craft.

What’s special here?
You can order biscuits, soft treats like pupcakes, jerkies, and birthday cakes. Gluten-free and veg options are also available. You can also get customized dehydrated travel meals or supplements like protein powder for your dogs. All the products are made to order and customizable. You can choose your preferred base flour like ragi, wheat, rice, and oats or choose a grain-free base. The best part is that it’s preservative-free and has no artificial colors or flavors. The beautiful colors come from veggies like beetroot and spinach.
Some of her best sellers are the Banana peanut butter oatmeal biscuits, beef jerkies, and training treats.

Shipping is available across India. For delivery within Kochi, you can book a Swiggy genie or use any other delivery app.
The price range starts from ₹160 and varies depending on the flavor and flour used.
Jaya shares that she’s been learning throughout the journey – Getting the right texture for the treats and researching about the food that’s suitable for dogs.
When asked about her critics she said, “My Boxer dogs Hooch and Bailey are the first ones to taste anything I make. Hooch is pickier so if he approves a treat, I can confidently sell it! ”
