There were many cartoons apart from “Tom and Jerry” or “Popeye the Sailor Man” that deserves a mention. Mayakannan
A boy from outer space decides to take a small vacation on Earth. He ends up becoming friends with a bunch of kids. The story revolves around the magical powers of the boy. He uses that to save the kids from trouble. It is a fun watch with lots of sweet little lessons on friendship and unity among friends.
In Malayalam, Mayakannan got aired on channels like Kochu TV and Surya TV.
He-Man & The Masters of The Universe
Those who loved this show must have tried saying this line at least once – “I have the POWER..” The show was about Prince Adam, son of King Randor and Queen Marlena. The episodes took us all through a ride where He-man and Battle Cat (Cringer the tiger pet of Adam) fight the invaders. They protect the castle and ensure peace and safety. Also, how can we forget the grace of the Power Sword? This is one of the many cartoons that offered lots of fights, strong characters and a wonderful plotline to look forward to!
Kaatile Kannan
It translates to Kannan of the forest. Kannan is an elephant who lives in the forest. This story is all about his explorations topped up with his naughtiness and cuteness. Can we ever forget the evergreen catchy song- Kannilunniyane Kannanane? In fact, Doordarshan aired this show earlier. It is one of those cartoons that will remind you of your childhood.
Jackie Chan Adventures
This series was very popular among kids. Although Jackie Chan was one of the main characters of this show, the storyline was twisted for the kids. Keeping in mind the younger audience, the show highlighted Julie (Jackie’s sister). The episodes were about little Julie seeking Jackie’s help during her adventures. They try to save the world from the evil masterminds. A tale of fights, mystery and a sweet bond between a brother and his sister.

Winx Club
Set amidst a magical universe, Winx Club is about a group of 7 fairy warriors. They are brave, smart and strong girls of Alfea College for Fairies. The club consists of Bloom (fire), Stella (sun), Flora (nature), Techna (technology), Musa (music), Aisha (waves) and Roxy (animals).
The underlying theme of the show is the war between good and bad. These fairies use their gifted powers to save the universe. The male characters are the men from Red Foundation school. They are well-trained warriors from non-magical backgrounds. Apparently, the Winx Club and the Specialists (boys group) fight the Trix, a group of deadly witches.

Detective Rajappan
Geronimo Stilton was a famous mouse character curated by an Italian author Elisabetta Dami. She wrote many stories for children who belong to the age group of 8-12 years. Inspired by this, the show got aired. Detective Rajappan is a Malayalam version of the same which revolves around a mouse with the same name. This is an adventurous tale of an allergic mouse who dares to go beyond his limits despite being scared. Definitely one of those cartoons that will remind you of your childhood!

Timon and Pumbaa
Have you ever wondered how did the term- HAKUNA MATATA become so trendy? The answer to that is this show. A funny and adventurous plotline starring a Warthog (Pumbaa) and a Meerkat (Timon). The main theme of the show is the incredible ability of this best friend duo to attract trouble. This show is super funny and an amazing piece to watch as a mood-lifter.
Pokémon
Many of us cannot forget this amazing show, which is about magical creatures called Pokémon. People use special magical tools called Poke balls to capture them. The show highlights the journey of Ash, Misty and Brock on their way to find more Pokémon. This cartoon was one of the most popular ones to be telecasted on the Cartoon Network (CN). Pikachu rose to fame after this adventurous show stepped into our childhoods.

Beyblade
We all remember cheering up for the Blade Breakers (BBA team), right? A show which probably made us all want a top to fight for the championship. The very popular Manga series made this show such a huge hit! A group of kids fighting fearlessly with the opponents and their inner fears was the plot of the show. Also, the impressive character development of the lead roles taught us a lot, didn’t it?
Stuart Little
Stuart Little is a white mouse who came and conquered our hearts with his innocence and intelligence. Stuart Little is like the mirror of our childhood memories. The peaceful and calm face of Stuart (adopted mouse-son of Little family) and the voyage that he undertakes with George, his human brother is what the show offers. And the grumpy Snowbell (pet cat of the Little family) was amazing too!
Dragon Hunters
As you might guess from the name, this show is about two people Lian-chu and Gwizdo, who are dragon hunters by profession. Lian is a fighter who uses his muscular power to hunt down dragons. His parents were killed by dragons that made him a dragon hunter.
Talking about the other member, Gwizdo is the smart one with an egoistical nature. This seems to come from the bad childhood that he had at the orphanage where he grew up.
Totally Spies
How can we miss the spies who added spice to our investigation hunger! Three girls living parallel lives as normal high-school girls and spies of WOOHP (WORL ORGANISATION OF HUMAN PROTECTION), Sam, Alex and Clover simply made our childhood interesting with each of their explorations. Jerry (head of WHOOP) hires the girls to keep a check on crimes that take place in the world. Girls get special bodysuits and weapons to fight the criminals. An engaging watch!
Strawberry shortcake
A show that could make anyone get hungry in no time! “Strawberry Shortcake” is about a girl called Strawberry shortcake. She lives with her pets in a fantasy world of chocolate rivers and edible houses. The series also showcases the stories of her friends Lemon Meringue, Orange Blossom, Raspberry Torte, Plum Pudding, Blueberry Muffin, and Cherry Jam.
Tiny TV On POGO
If you recall, there used to be a timeline reserved on Pogo called “TINY TV”. In those hours, we lived the best moments of our childhood. Oswald, Kipper, Noddy, Bob the Builder, Miffy and friends, Thomas and friends were some of the popular cartoons of TT. Also, Pingu needs a special mention for its cute penguin performance.
Marsupilami
One of the funniest and light-hearted cartoons we loved watching was Marsupilami. Marsupilami is a strange, long-tailed creature that looks like a leopard with dog-like ears. He, along with his friends Maurice (Gorilla) and Stewart (Elephant), faced all kinds of fun-filled adventures in the Columbian forest.
