A Minor Girl Was Sexually Assaulted By 6 Men On A Moving Train In Kerala

A 16-year-old girl travelling with her father in the Ernakulam-Guruvayur Special Express train had encountered a traumatising experience during her journey. The father and daughter were heading to Thrissur at 7:50 PM when the incident occurred. The girl was sexually assaulted by six men, who even attacked her father for intervening.

Six men who were travelling in the same compartment as them, tried to molest the teenage girl and started to pass lewd comments. When the father tried to intervene, the men manhandled him. According to the father’s statement, the men were in an inebriated state.

Speaking to The New Indian Express, he shared, “One of the men even touched my daughter’s leg. When she brought this to my notice, I intervened. However, the men, all six of them, began hurling abuses and used foul language before attacking me physically. When we tried to click their photos they got more aggressive and tried to snatch our phones. However, we managed to get a few photos.”

The father and the girl stated that they complained to the Railway guard about the incident, but there was no action from their side. They had to contact the Thrissur Railway police to take strict action. Unfortunatly, when the train reached the Thrissur Railway Station, the men managed to flee.

The Thrissur Railway Police shared that the case has been handed over to the Ernakulam police station since the train originated there. A case has been registered under section 354 of the CrPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the men. The police are currently on the lookout for them. The only information they have is that men are daily commuters and hold season tickets. But they will be arrested soon.
