A travel and food vlogger, Amal Kottayam Foodie, found this unique store and decided to share the owner’s special lemon tea story. The store is small and unassuming, with a simple design and a few tables and chairs for customers to sit and enjoy their tea. The lemon tea itself is made with boiling hot water, fresh lemon juice, and a touch of sugar. It’s served hot, and it’s the perfect drink to ease the nerves.
The owner of the shop, an elderly gentleman, takes immense pride in his lemon tea and delights in recounting how he began selling it. He claims to have been the first to introduce lemon tea to the area, and since then, other vendors have attempted to imitate his recipe. Nonetheless, his establishment has a unique appeal, and some attribute it to Ikan’s special kaipunyam. Apart from lemon tea, there are also thattukada dishes here. The shop is open till 1:30 pm.
