This Malayali ‘Accidental Chef’ Is Making Us Drool Over His Recipes On YouTube

Firoz Chuttipara from Palakkad went to Saudi Arabia for almost a decade, but little did he know that he would master a skill over the course of his stay there. Firoz mastered the art of cooking, only because he grew tired of eating out every third day. So, between 2007 and 2012, Firoz worked as a welder in a construction site during the day, and learnt to cook his mother’s recipes at night. Mind you, he didn’t know even the ABC’s of cooking. However, he had to learn how to cook as he did not have a choice. When he left Saudi Arabia and returned to his hometown of Chuttipara, he decided to turn his ‘skill’ into something sensational.

Though Firoz continued to work as a welder in Chuttipara, and started his own photostat shop and DTP centre for few years, he knew there was more he could do in life. One day, while reading a newspaper, he came across a piece which talked about how one could earn money off from YouTube. Inspired by this, Firoz, after days of trial and error, finally made a video on ‘How To Make Layered Soft Parotta’, which was shot in at his uncle’s food stall, Yusuf Biriyani Centre, in Palakkad and uploaded it on YouTube. That video went on to garner more than 13 million views. From then on, there was no stopping Firoz.

He, along with his friends, officially launched their own YouTube channel called ‘Village Food Company‘ to showcase the recipes he had mastered during his stint in Saudi Arabia, while experimenting with other recipes too. Surprisingly, it was the best decision he had made because currently, he has over 60K subscribers on YouTube with over a million views on his videos.

What makes Firoz stand out from the rest of chefs on YouTube in Kerala is that he makes food that will serve around 50-100 people. According to him, the more quantity he makes, the more appealing it is to his audiences. He is always open to trying out cuisines from other states, and that’s what makes him likeable. His group of friends have always had his back since the very beginning, and that is all the inspiration he needs. His loyal fans on YouTube keeps him going strong as they too enjoy being part of his culinary journey.
