The Story of India’s First Trans Couple From Kerala To Have A Baby

In a heartwarming moment for the LGBTQ+ community in India, a trans couple – Zahad and Ziya – in the state of Kerala welcomed a baby into the world, making them the first known trans couple to do so in the country. The couple has decided to keep the gender of the baby a secret, as they wish for the child to choose their own identity when they are older. The news has been met with excitement and joy as the trans community progresses toward equality and acceptance.

The baby’s birth marks a significant step forward for the LGBTQ+ community in India, where being transgender is still not widely accepted, and individuals face discrimination and prejudice daily. This new chapter in the lives of the trans couple and their baby is a testament to their strength, courage, and resilience in facing adversity. Despite facing numerous challenges and hurdles, Zahad has shown immense strength and determination in pursuing parenthood. The birth of their child marks a new chapter in their lives and serves as a symbol of hope for others in the trans community.

Breaking all stereotypes, the couple welcomed their firstborn at a hospital in Kozhikode, following which their story received international acclaim after being covered by international media, including BBC and other global news outlets. The baby was born around 9.30 AM through a Cesarean Section at the Government Medical College Hospital. At the time of delivery, Zahad’s sugar level in the body was high. They, therefore, decided to go with a C-section under medical advice.
