The 3rd chapter of John Wick is filled with beautifully choreographed action sequences. They are so good and filled with innovative fights that even talking about them would be me giving out spoilers!
You also get to know more about John Wick’s Universe, and fascinating characters are introduced to you. But that’s if you’ve watched the first two movies. If you have not watched the first two movies, here’s a quick recap.
John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, is a retired assassin who has been dragged back into the world of crime. John had retired from that life when he married. That’s where the first movie starts. His wife passes away, but she gifts him a puppy before she dies. A trio of Russian gangsters get into a tussle with John and kills his dog. The first movie had him seek revenge for the murder of his dog and introduced us to the world of the assassins.
The second movie built up from there and had John take up a job to repay an old debt. But when he is betrayed, he ends up killing the villain on Continental grounds. Now, here are things that you should know before you watch John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
The Continental is a group of hotels/service stations for the assassins. The world of the assassins has its own currency, in the form of gold coins. One of the rules of this world is that blood cannot be split on Continental grounds. If you disobey, you will no longer be entitled to the privileges of being an assassin (referred to as “excommunicado” in the movies) and have a bounty placed on your head. This world is governed by a mysterious body referred to as the “High Table” who dictates all the rules of this world.
Since John killed someone on Continental grounds, he is now “excommunicado” and is being hunted by all the assassins in the world. Now that I’ve briefed you about what’s happened so far, go ahead and indulge in some fast-paced action and close quarters combat that the “Baba Yaga” (Russian for Boogeyman) is known for.
