Corona Papers

Corona Papers revolves around a police officer pursuing a gang of thieves who stole a significant sum of money amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Set against the backdrop of the pandemic, the film delves into themes of avarice, criminal activities, and the quest for justice. Directed by Priyadarshan, the movie features actors Shane Nigam, Shine Tom Chacko, Siddique, and Lal Jr. The story is adapted from Akira Kurosawa’s 1949 film Stray Dog and is a remake of the 2017 Tamil film “8 Thottakal.

Enthada Saji

Endhaada Saji is a fantasy film directed by Godfy Xavier Babu. It occurs in the scenic Illickal village in the Thodupuzha district of Kerala. The story primarily focuses on the life of Saji Mol (played by Nivetha Thomas), a cheerful woman whose wedding is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. The captivating conversations between Saji Mol and Saint Rocky, played by Kunchako Boban, are the highlight throughout the movie.

Jawanum Mullapoovum

Jawanum Mullappoovum is a film directed by debutant Raghu Menon. The movie revolves around the life of Jayasree Teacher and explores the challenges common people, who lack adequate technological knowledge, face during the pandemic. It sheds light on the difficulties that arise when one is not well-versed in technology and how it impacts the day-to-day existence of these people during difficult times. The lead roles are played by Shivada Nair, Sumesh Chandran, and Rahul Madhav.

Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham

Streaming on: SonyLIV

Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham is a family-drama directed by Muhashin. The film features Basil Joseph, Indrans, and Jafer Iduki in prominent roles. The story revolves around Bachu (played by Basil Joseph), a young man aspiring to become a successful businessman. However, he finds himself in a major predicament as his family insists he goes to the Gulf for work. Despite the pressure, Bachu is determined not to alter his decision. However, he starts reconsidering his choices when the lockdown is imposed, leading to a series of events.

Pookkaalam, directed by Ganesh Raj, is a feel-good family drama. The film features Vijayaraghavan, K.P.A.C Leela, and Basil Joseph in notable roles. With predominantly positive reviews, “Pookkalam” revolves around the separation of a couple in their late 90s and the unexpected events that unfold during their granddaughter’s engagement. The movie captures the essence of family bonds and explores the charm of such unforeseen events that take them on a magical journey.

Simon Daniel

Simon Daniel is a mystery thriller starring Divya Pillai, Vijeesh, and Vineeth Kumar. Directed by Sajan Antony, the story is of a wandering Archaeologist (played by Vineeth) searching for his missing friend while looking for a lost treasure in a mysterious estate.

Ayalvashi is a comedy-drama directed by Irshad Parari. Full of fun and laughter, the movie features Soubin Shahir, Binu Papu, and Gokulan, who deliver their comical roles very well. The movie is centered around Thahjudeen’s and Benny’s friendship and a small tiff that blows out of proportion. What follows is a fun and comical story revolving around a small middle-class family’s household. Watch this like, someone said in a review, a “cup of tea on a rainy day!” 

Two Men

Streaming on: Saina Play

Two Men, directed and written by Satheesh Kumar, is a drama that follows two men’s lives from two ends of a spectrum that get intertwined. Interestingly, this movie happens in 24 hours, beginning from the eve of Bakrid to the dawn of Bakrid. The cast comprises Donny Darwin, Arfaz Iqbal, and Iqbal.

Neelavelicham, directed by Aashiq Abu, is a captivating reboot of the 1964 Malayalam movie Bhargavi Nilayam. This romantic horror flick tells the story of a writer who moves into a haunted house and the events that unfold. The film features Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal, Shine Tom Chacko, and Roshan Mathews.
