Nanjiyamma To Make Her Acting Debut In The Malayalam Film Trimurthy

Nanjiyamma, the playback singer and a National Award holder who rose to fame for her rendition of the song Kalakkatha in Ayyappanum Koshiyum, is now going to make her acting debut. Sarath Lal Nemibhuvan’s debutant venture Trimurthy will have Nanjiuamma playing a role in the film. She is also one of the many singers in the film.

Nanjiuamma belongs to the Irula community of the Attapadi village in Kerala. She is also part of the Azad Kala Samithi group, featuring artists from the tribal communities in Kerala and led by a tribal artist in Attapadi named Pazhani Swami. She sang Kalakkatha in the Irula language, which was composed by Jakes Bejoy. The song became an internet sensation after it was released on YouTube. Nanjiuamma soon became the talk of the town. Because of her, the importance of preserving and promoting tribal music and art became prominent in the state, especially in the film industry.

Having had the opportunity to work on several short films and projects now, Trimurthy will soon showcase her talent as an actor. The film is said to feature 21 songs; most of which are sung by new singers. In addition, we will get to see new faces in the film. Fun fact, Sarath Lal Nemibhuvan is also the music director of Trimurthy.
