It’s been a while since Mammootty graced the screen with his mighty presence. The last time we saw him, he was clad in a politician’s avatar in One and a priest in, well, The Priest. Unfortunately, both the movies didn’t do well as expected. 2022, however, has given Mammootty yet another opportunity to rise above the ashes. We’ve got four of his movies releasing soon. Let’s have a look at the Mammootty movies hitting our screen in 2022.
Puzhu
Puzhu, which translates to ‘worm’, is a crime thriller movie helmed by debutant director Ratheena PT. Starring Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu in lead roles, the film promises a gripping thriller. Will we enjoy the hell out of it? Probably! We were presented with a teaser earlier where we see a condescending Mammooty warning his son. He says, “It’s good to share what we have with others. That’s when we become good human beings. But that doesn’t mean that we should accept what they are offering. Kichu doesn’t need that, right?”. In the next shot, we see Kichu aiming his toy gun at his father’s picture. It looks like a movie we’ve all been yearning for on the big screen.

Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam
Word on the street is that Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam will be a collaboration between Churuli’s director, Lijo Jose Pellissery, and Mammootty. It is believed that Mammukka will be playing the role of a character named ‘Velan’ aka ‘Nakulan’. Nakulan is a scrap dealer cum bicycle mechanic who goes on a stealing spree in the night. The film is said to be a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual movie. The shooting took place in Pazhani and is all set to release soon.
Fact: The duo, Mammootty and Lijo Jose will be shooting a segment for the upcoming Netflix anthology that is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories.

CBI5
We would be lying if we said we didn’t screech with joy when Mammootty’s latest still drop of CBI5 broke the internet. Mammootty’s iconic role as investigation officer Sethurama Iyer is bound to wreak chaos as he is going to take us back to the thriller zone. If the reports are to be believed, actor Jagathy Sreekumar will be making a small comeback in this movie too.

Bheeshma Parvam
If a poster of Mammootty sitting on a throne-like chair could make everyone go gaga, imagine what the movie would be like. Bheeshma Parvam is an action-gangster movie, co-directed by Amal Neerad and Mammootty. This kickass collaboration has come after a long gap since their last movie Big B.

These are the four Mammootty movies we’re excited to watch this year.
