Written and directed by Jijo George, The Sound of Age tells the story of how the youth perceives old age. It talks about the feelings of parents towards their children and subsequent developments. In addition to that, it also exposes a lot of our inherent understanding of old age. The film was released on May 15 on NeeStream and has continued to spark important conversations.
The 22-min long film has veteran actor Kainakary Thankaraj who plays the role of a father abandoned by his children at a retirement home. The film touches upon the Maintenance Tribunal Act of 2007 that throws light on the welfare and care of senior citizens. As per the Act, every elderly person has the right to live the life they deserve. Muthumani, who plays the magistrate in The Sound of Age, brings the children of the father together to discuss the course of action for their father’s well-being.
Jijo has worked as an Assistant Director in Indrajith Sukumaran’sAaha and Sunny Wayne’s Pidikittapulli. The Sound of Age has been jointly produced by Surendran Vazhakkad, Limmy Anto K, and Mathew Mambra, under the banners of Parvathi Productions, Limmas Productions, and Mambra Foundation respectively. Muthumani Somasundaran, Kainakary Thankaraj, Ranjith Manambarakat, Jins Baskar, Roshna Ann Roy, Pranav Krishna and Swathi Puthenveettil are in the lead roles.
