Social humanoid robot Sophia has arrived in Kerala, a stop on her journey across the globe. Sophia arrived draped in a Kerala saree for the tech-fest, Drishti 2022, organised by the College of Engineering in Thiruvananthapuram. Sophia is regarded to be the best version of a humanoid robot and was activated on February 14, 2016.

The robot is modelled after the ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, Audrey Hepburn, and its inventor’s wife, Amanda Hanson. Sophia became the first robot to acquire citizenship when it attained citizenship in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2017.

Sophia was seen elegantly draped in a traditional Kerala saree for its interactive session with students and experts gathered on the campus for the fest. This is also the first time Sophia has visited a campus in South India.
