Master Calligrapher Shri Narayan Bhattathiri will head the workshop on the 7th, 15th and 28th of May from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (IST).

About Shri Narayan Bhattathiri

Born in Edappon, a sleepy little village near Pandalam in Kerala, Shri Narayan Bhattathiri is the first person in Kerala to be designated as a (Malayalam) calligrapher. With a graduate degree from the College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum, this calligraphy maestro has always surrounded himself with the world of art.

In 1982, he joined the Kalakaumudi group of publications as an artist while continuing his passion to promote Malayalam calligraphy. He has also worked with Samakalika Malayalam. With over four decades of experience in experimenting with Malayalam alphabets, and lettering the titles of stories and poems, he has now become the connoisseur of Malayalam Calligraphy.

Narayan Bhattathiri was the recipient of the Jikji Excellence Award in International Calligraphy in 2017 and 2018. The South Korean Government institues the award as an ode to their first printed book titled Jikji. The Calligraphy Stone Park in Herbin, China, has exhibited a couple of his well-known works. He even compiled and permanently exhibited a series of calligraphy works based on the O.V.Vijayan’s Malayalam classic Khasakkinte Itihasam, which is a first-of-its-kind calligraphy series based on a novel in any Indian language.
