Gambler: The Trailer of Mollywood’s First Superhero Movie Looks Interesting

Malayalam cinema gets its own superhero movie and it’s pretty much not like your typical superhero movie. While we often associate superhero movies with intergalactic interactions coupled with godlike beings, Gambler has a different superhero story to tell.

Directed by Tom Emmatty, produced by Thankachen Emmanuel under the banner True Line Cinema, Gambler is a coming of age movie in Malayalam cinema that might just bring a ‘superhero’ trend to the Mollywood industry. When it was announced that Anson Paul, who acted as Mammootty’s younger brother in  Abrahaminte Santhathika, will be playing the lead role in Gambler, it immediately garnered attention in M-town and among moviegoers like us. Based on a true story, the movie Gambler has been fictionalised to seem like a superhero story – a crazy concept that might just work with Malayali audiences. As of now, we have no clue of the superhero name given to Anson. However, we do know that his weapon of choice is playing cards and that’s how he beats his enemies. This is all a deranged way of saying that Gambler might just bring a ‘superhero’ that many Malayalis can look up to like how I look up to Black Panther, Iron Man, and Captain America.

Take a look at the trailer of Gambler right below.

The first official trailer of Gambler does not reveal much of the storyline. However, we do get a glimpse of Anson’s troublesome adventures, which is grounded in his relationship with his son. And yes, the father-son duo bonds over ‘playing cards’ aka gambling. At times, you’d wish the trailer revealed more, but it’s synoptic enough to keep us interested till the movie finally comes out. Anson Paul has definitely delivered a bone-chilling performance and there’s NO telling what he’s up to. The trailer of Gambler will leave you speculating aplenty and chances are, you’ll love it.
