Four members of a family have been found dead in their home in Kottarakara. Three members – Anitha, Aditya and Amrita – seem to have been hacked to death. The fourth, Rajendran, seems to have committed suicide by hanging himself. Rajendran seems to have murdered his family and committed suicide. However, since there are no survivors, the police are conducting a detailed enquiry to ascertain the facts of the incident.

Rajendran (55) worked as an auto driver in Kottarakara and lived with his wife Anitha, their son Adithya (24) and daughter Amritha (21). Mathrubhumi reported that the bodies were discovered by Adithya’s friend. Adithya worked as a salesperson nearby and when he did not turn up for work, his friend came to check on him. This was when the bodies were discovered. Kottarakara police were informed around noon on Friday. They reached the house soon and cordoned it off. A team of forensic experts have also been brought to the site.
The News Minute reported that Joseph Leon, the Station House Officer Kottarakkara, told them that Rajendran is believed to have been living with a mental illness. He is quoted to have said, “He was under treatment four years ago. The motive behind the crime is not known yet.”

A machete has been found in the house and is believed to have been used to commit the murders. Bodies of the deceased have been taken for postmortem. A detailed investigation is underway and more details are awaited.
