Hello, beach people! Ready for a wave dance because Ernakulam has started to show off its first-ever floating bridge at Kuzhupilly Beach. This seaworthy display is a T-shaped, three-meter-wide thrill that will protrude 100 meters into the sea. And if that’s not enough, it’s open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and guarantees a day of salty gusts and good vibes soaking in all the vitamin ‘sea’ on your beachy day!
This marine delight, which cost a whopping 1.20 crore, is part of Kerala Tourism’s committed and constant aim to deploy floating bridges like confetti across all nine districts with coastlines. Imagine strolling along a floating T-shaped creation, soaking in the sun, and feeling the sea gently move beneath your feet. Can it get any better than this?
People, safety is the tagline of the game! On this sea-striding work of art, only 50 water enthusiasts are allowed to sway at a time, clinging onto railings. Trained lifeguards and water sports experts are your sea guides, delivering instructions and ensuring you’re comfy in your life jackets. And don’t worry, they have a strategy in place for extreme weather—it’s all about joyful walks, no storms!

Having given you all those deets, have you ever wondered how the floating bridge manages to stay afloat? The magic beans are around 1,000 ISO-certified high-density polyethene blocks that rise and fall with the rhythm of the waves. Our Sea Fairy is a Mumbai-based company that constructed this bridge on a build-operate-transfer basis, promising two years of fun service.
The adrenaline delights don’t stop there! This floating beauty is a gift from Kerala Tourism, and it brings another dimension to beach-based adventure tourism. Ernakulam becomes the best spot for a sea-filled adventure, from Munambam’s popular water sports to the breathtaking Kochi International Marina project.
So, what are you waiting for again? Have some fun because everyone else already has! Efforts are still on to better and get you waltzing on the water, enjoying a first-time experience. So, bring your beach hat and cheerful feet, and let’s meet at Kuzhupilly Beach’s own floating bridge. As the locals say, it’s not just a bridge; it’s more like a sea symphony, and you’re urged to join the fun!
