We all have that one friend whose sole mission is to eat all kinds of food, especially the ones that are tagged “weird”. After all, curiosity knows no boundaries. Speaking of which, there are many many weird food around the world that will leave you questioning the taste of humanity. We’re not one to judge, but hey, you can’t help but irk at the sight of a person drinking a Python soup or fried brain burgers. So here’s diving into the world’s weirdest food you should try at least once in your lifetime.

Tuna Eyeball

As creepy as it sounds, the taste of Tuna Eyeballs is apparently quite delicious. A popular delicacy in China and Japan, Tuna Eyeballs sell as cheap as one dollar in many stores. If you’ve tried squids, you might like this one as it tastes quite the same with a little bit of gooeyness. 

Fried Tarantulas

Yes, Tarantulas, the eight-legged crawlers that can send shivers down your spine is super delicious when served as a deep-fried snack. The Cambodians have it on a day-to-day basis and for them, it’s as good as having pazhampori. 

Wasp Cookies

We all love dunking chocolate chip cookies in our milk, don’t we? We bet you wouldn’t do the same with Wasp Cookies, a cracker made using rice cracker mix and boiled and dried wasps. Fun fact though, wasps provide 81 percent of protein so if you’re looking to pack some pounds, you know what to eat.


Koreans love their silkworms steamed and seasoned to perfection. The Beondegi is clearly one of their favourite go-to dishes. The taste, you ask? Well, if you ever tried wood, you might know what the Beondegi tastes likes. 

Stink Bugs

These insects are called stink bugs because of the bad odour they release when there are signs of threat. But it’s one of the most nutritious foods in Africa and meets all dietary requirements. It tastes like apples, if that helps you feel less disgusted by the thought of eating it. Also, we highly suggest that you don’t kiss anyone after eating this food.

Yak Penis

If you’ve ever fantasized about eating a penis, this is your chance. All you have to do is book a flight to Beijing and reserve a spot at the Guo Li Zhuang Restaurant to get the best Yak Penis in town. The dish is said to treat impotence in men and improve the skin texture of women. They say, it’s quite chewy in texture. Taste wise, we don’t quite know exactly because it differs from person to person.

Frog Legs

Eating a frog may gross you out but people in many Southeast Asian countries and France love the idea of it. When legs of frogs are grilled, baked, fried or stewed, the taste is as good as chicken. You wouldn’t know unless you give it a try. If you want it to sound less gross, you can maybe complement it with spiced sauce.


When in Mexico, have Escamoles aka ant larvae. The insect caviar is usually used as stuffings in tacos or salads and apparently, people love it. It certainly doesn’t taste as bad as it looks.

Fried Brain Sandwiches

When you fry battered pig brains and stuff it between a sandwich bun with delicious sauces, you get what the people in Ohio or Nashville, America, call Fried brain Sandwiches. It kinda looks like a KFC burger, but bigger and tastier. So if you’re in the neighbourhood, don’t forget to drop by the state and devour on this delicacy.


You’re not gonna like the sound of this particular dish that’s quite famous in the Philippines. A developing duck embryo when boiled turns into a side dish which people consume when they drink alcohol. It’s has the same status beef pickle holds in Kerala. Enticed much?
