The latest belief was that Arjun and the lorry were either inside the island-like sand dunes produced by landslides in the Gangavali River or had been pushed into the water. To search this area, a deep-sea metal detector that can be used on water and land was brought in.

Forty soldiers under the command of Major Abhishek arrived from Belagavi, but the lack of radar hampered rescue efforts. The army’s search was called off around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night due to heavy rains and possible landslides. The Karnataka Revenue Minister yesterday misreported that 90% of the soil that had fallen on the road had been recovered, but there was no sign of the truck. Despite the tough conditions, the NDRF, SDRF, local fire and rescue services, the local administration, the navy, and the army continue to assist in the search and rescue efforts.
